JBL ProCristal internal filters have a two or three-stage filter system offering the following advantages: The mechanical primary filter traps coarser particles such as fish excretions, plant residues, etc. and so protects the biological filter substance from unnecessary pollution. Long service life of the biological filter substance. Good degrading of toxic nitrogens such as ammonia and nitrite, as useful cleansing bacteria settle in the biological filter stage.
Optional: third filter stage with activated carbon, JBL PhosEx, JBL NitratEx etc. Suitable for use with virtually any commercial filter material.
The three filter stages are housed separately and can therefore be cleaned or replaced as the need arises. Pre-filtering cartridges are unknown in most filters of this size. They ensure that the biological filter substance requires less cleaning and so encourages useful bacteria to settle. Pollutants dissolved in the water are therefore degraded well ? for the well-being of the fish and the plants. The separating wall in the filter substance container ensures that no polluted water leaks from the container when removing the unit from the aquarium. An optional new ventilation system guarantees that the water is aerated well
